Projects by country so far:
Algeria & South Africa
The Team in Brief:
Trustees: Abu Hasan, Misba, Sahar
Advisory Board: Kashif Farooq (IT specialist and former marine shipping agent), Usman Sheikh (director, healthcare provider), Misba (businessman) , Choudhury Elahi (photo-journalist -ops director residing in Bangladesh), Abu Hasan (driving instructor), Sahar (IT specialist).
There are three Trustees who are in charge of the charity and who are all British and are based in London. They volunteer their services for free. The Chairman has a background in science and technology. Another trustee is a qualified driving instructor, and another has a business background.
The advisory board provides consultation and advice on all issues of the charity. We keep things informal because we find it helps with the flow of ideas and helps us stay flexible to changing needs of our beneficiaries
There is a Director Of Operations for Bangladesh. He lives in Dhaka, its capital and is a photo journalist by profession. Nearly all the Bangladeshi photos you see on this website are from his work. He, along with the Chairman, helped co-found Mercy Mankind back in 2006.
We have some other well wishers and advisors too. Together, with our generous individual donors* like yourself, we make up Mercy Mankind International!
*We are completely reliant upon your donations because we do not receive any outside funding whatsoever.
How do we keep costs low ?
We do our own IT and web design in-house. We in the UK donate our free time to Mercy Mankind International so that together, with your help, we can help the poor.
All advertising, admin and any other miscellaneous UK admin running costs of Mercy Mankind Intl are met privately and NOT from your donations at all. So feel reassured your donations will go towards the provision of services and aid for the poor completely. Please support our work . Thank you
To clarify where your money goes: It goes towards paying for the teachers who teach the children, the tutor for the sewing training, the doctor for our free health clinic, the free food for the kids, medicines, other projects, local staff overseas etc. It DOES NOT pay for keeping the charity alive as a legal entity in the UK. So things like advertising costs, webspace, postage costs, etc are covered privately by people within the Trustees / Advisory Board members. To further keep costs low, we dont pay rent on any offices, we meet at home or at other free public venues. We pay for our our own air-fare to travel from the UK to our project venues (in order to periodically monitor our work). We pay for all UK office related costs ourselves , privately (not from donations).
To sum It Up: 0% on Admin, 100% on Projects

OUR AIM: To help needy people throughout the world without discriminating on the basis of race, colour, or religion. We work for the poor - they are our friends!
Mercy Mankind International was setup in December 2006 after noticing the huge rich-poor divide in Bangladesh. We are gradually growing with your help (and feedback), and operate in Bangladesh and now also in Pakistan. We hope to slowly expand our work into other countries and to the UK as well. Poverty doesn't discriminate, and neither do we.
Our charity work so far has included food-aid, sanitation, medical-aid, enhancement of education, Free school & Training Centre , AIDS awareness, helping Refugees & providing safe drinking water. We have also helped Tribal People in some parts of Bangladesh. We are also helping some women victims of acid burn attacks.
Our work is completely voluntary. The UK team running Mercy Mankind hold day jobs elsewhere - we DO NOT take a penny from Mercy Mankind). We strive hard to ensure 100% of your donations go on the provision of projects abroad - and not on UK Admin costs which are being met by the UK team privately (and not from donations)
From July 2007 onwards, some kind inviduals have started donating towards the projects and appeals. We need your support so that our monthly funds are bigger so we can help more people. We sincerely owe you our deepest thanks - and indeed, some of the beneficiaries have personally thanked you all. Check out Halima
Please help us and see the results of your donations in our monthly photo-updates. Together we can make a difference, no matter how small.
If you have any questions, please get in touch. We would love to hear from you. |
