Sat 16 Jun 07: Halima underwent a three and a half hour operation (1730-2100 hrs GMT) by a 6 member team lead by British trained surgeon, Dr A K Afjal Khan.
Now twelve hours on, she is slowly recovering and naturally doesnt want to eat anything because of the discomfort. She is drinking some milk we bought her but refuses her favourite chocolates.
The surgeon said it was a very unusual case and has not come accross it in a person so young. He said that had she not had had the operation , she would most certainly have gone blind. He said the operation was a difficult one but went well.
For her comfort, we have booked a private hospital room for her, and her parents, while she recovers.
