Free Sewing Training For Poor Women
Bangladesh
Feb 2008
On 15 February 2008, Mercy Mankind bought 10 sewing machines and started the free training scheme to help poor women (refugees and locals) to learn a skill with which they can try and get a job in the local garments factories or as a freelance tailor. It will help their entire family indirectly. The women get to train on new eco-friendly machines, and we supply all the training materials and fabric and teacher - totally FREE. Once the current batch of women are trained, a fresh new batch of trainees will begin. Our running costs include the cost of the trainer, the fabric and miscellaneous bits and pieces.
Some exteremely kind individuals paid for these 10 machines. You know who you are , and we thank you.
