SAFE WATER & SANITATION WORKSHOP FOR WOMEN

January 2007. Mercy Mankind ran a small workshop for some women of Saidpur (located in the NW corner of Bangladesh).

The workshop was aimed at tackling disease through good education. Water borne diseases can lead to death and these women were taught good sanitation techniques and safe water acquisition. Women were chosen as they are in charge of their household and are responsible for their children. Last year, to help families of people like these women, we supplied and fitted free toilets in their locality.

The journey from the capital, Dhaka, to Saidpur takes over 7 hours by coach. This region is the coldest in Bangladesh, and on of the poorest.
