EYE TREATMENT FOR POOR REFUGEES FROM THE UN REFUGEE CAMP, May 2008
(SOME of the patient photos are below)

CREDITS: First we wish to thank all of you who donated to make this possible. With your help, you helped restore the sights of people who would otherwise have remained without sight for ever because they are too poor to seek treatment. We wish to thank RIC (resource integration Centre), and Handicap International staff for their help in patient selection. We wish to thank the local UNHCR representative in Bangladesh and the doctors and everyone else who helped us. We wish to thank the local Bangladesh ministry officials for their help and co-operation.
40 Myanmar refugees from the UN camp were screened and selected for treatment. Two received prescription glases, 7 required surgery, and the rest received medication for a month to treat their ailments. The people who underwent surgery will receive follow up care on 9 July 2008.
In addition to this, a larger number of poor people will be screened this month (refugees and non refugees) and put on a waiting list for surgery on a monthly basis. We want to help them with treatment and we invite you to save a sight if you are able. It doesn't cost much, and if you donate, just use the contact form to tell us your funds are for eye treatments.

SEWING TRAINING GRADUATES:
Click on the photo on the left to find out about the history and see other photos about this project. These poor girls trained for 3 months and are holding their cetificates. We hope the training will help them find work in a world where food prices are spiralling out of control, and where the poor are finding it hard to survive.

TUBE WELL INSTALLATION (SAFE WATER)
Newly fitted tube well in Cox's Bazar , Bangladesh, which will provide water to about 50 families who live on top of the hill. Sorry for the poor photo - the camera developed a malfunction that day. This tube well was donated by an individual from the UK - thank you.
The well is circled in yellow. The families live on top the hills.
Expansion of School to 60 students:
Our free school , new student induction. 30 more students were accepted into our free school for refugees....click the photo for details. we supply free education, uniforms, books and stationary and snacks.
