On 20th December 2007, Mercy Mankind distributed 270 shawls and blankets to the poor people of Khashila Village, in Jagannathpur, Sunamganj (located in the NE corner of Bangladesh). Previously, Jagannathpur fell under the district of Sylhet - the people of this district speak a different dialect to that spoken in the rest of Bangladesh. Over 90% of all Bangladeshi immigrants in the UK are from Sylhet. Sylhet and Sunamganj is bordered by India and Assam. The journey from Sylhet town to khashila took 1 hr 25 mins as part of the road is very bad - it is about 20 miles from Sylhet town. Here are some photos.
