Nutrition Program
People Assisted: 500 approx
24-26th May 2007, Nutrition Program
Location: Saidpur, (Rangpur) Northwest Bangladesh
Project: Nutrition Program
How: Providing Uncooked Rice, 2Kg each to 120 families
Number of people helped: approx 500
Between 24th and 26th May, we travelled to Saidpur to distribute rice to 120 families. Rice is a staple food source and is eaten thrice daily by most people (except by those living in cities). The cost of rice is now expensive, so we gave each family 2kg each. Each family has between 4-5 people in the household, and this rice will last them two or three days. So we hope to have helped about 500 through our efforts..
We bought the rice locally in Saidpur, and with the help of local community leaders, we were able to distribute this to the poor. The photos here give you an idea of what was going on. The photographs were taken by our operations director (Choudhury Luthfee Elahi) and he was in the locality for 2 days overseeing the programme from start to finish.
